Position Summary:

Bridgestone is currently looking for an Account Manager, large national retailer, for a Bridgestone Americas’ customer. The National Account Manager will work directly with the customer’s buying team to optimize tire unit sales volume, seek merchandising opportunities and support overall profitability. This position will be involved in developing both long-term strategies and annual business & sales planning to support the company objectives for key customer accounts.


  • Design, develop and implement business & sales plans to achieve account objectives

  • Manage promotional expense budget to support category sales plan

  • Coordinate and manage annual and monthly category forecasting process

  • Direct daily customer support functions and problem solving activities for customer account

  • Lead integrated cross-functional team that drives results at both the unit and profit level

  • Vendor Management, Pricing, Marketing, Planning and Inventory Control

  • Direct Sales

  • Manage merchandising opportunities

  • In-depth product knowledge

  • Inventory management

  • Marketing and promotions of product categories in order to make them as visible, accessible, and appealing to customers as possible

  • Increasing the volume of products that are sold within the category, and improving the speed of inventory turnover within the category

  • Working knowledge of the products, consumer needs, buying practices, sales goals and retail environment related to the merchandise category

  • Effective planning and forecasting in order to maximize the profitability of inventory flow

  • Balancing projected forecasts and actual sales

  • Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or related degree

  • 7-10 years of account management, sales or sales management experience

  • Management experience with sales teams selling into mass merchandisers

  • Direct selling experience with large or big box retailers

  • Sound communication skills - as evidenced by the ability to educate and influence internal and external staff. Must have the ability to formulate and present effectively to individuals/groups.

  • Selling Skills – need to be able to set goals and drive sales to attain these goals with strong selling skills. Must have the ability to close and follow through on the sale.

  • Strong analytical skills – to be able to review and make decisions on merchandising, programming, promotional and financial.

  • Cross-functional "literacy" – critical to be able to work with support functions such as Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, Legal and others.

  • Strong problem-solving capabilities - as evidenced by a track record of finding feasible solutions to difficult problems, especially in an environment with incomplete information and tight timelines

  • Negotiation – must have the ability to effectively negotiate contracts, support programs and sell in opportunities. Need to be able to manage and work effectively with the Buying Team.
