The primary duty of the Inventor Document Control Manager is to provide leadership related to Bridgestone’s digital environment—including, but not limited to strategic direction and implementation for data management in Vault Pro and Inventor 3D Design environments.
The IDC Manager assists in providing direction in emerging digital technologies while developing opportunities for process improvement, applications, and data integration including Factory Design, Machine Design, ECOs, Data Management, and Contractor Oversight. This individual will be responsible for managing a team of four direct employees who have responsibility for standards and system administration.
Inventor / Vault Oversight – 35%
Daily oversight of functional drafting support including Bridgestone Tire Operations and Firestone Industrial Products
Maintain data integrity as it relates to Vault and Inventor environments
Manage Inventor and Vault Pro data to coordinate multiple disciplines on projects
Oversee implementation of new or updated standards with project teams
Collaborate and communicate with other Technical Services departments to deliver and manage 3D CAD data
Provide leadership and development for contract and permanent teammates to ensure Inventor and other projects are completed correctly and on time
Inventor / Vault Standards – 25%
Manage the preparation of Bridgestone’s Digital Standards, specifically Inventor and Vault Pro
Communicate current practices and procedures with Digital Technologies project staff and others as needed
Continued development of “best practices” for digital technologies as it relates to Inventor or Vault research and development, standards, and processes
Maintain and update the standards as needed with new CAD software or requirements
Assures standards are used for all internal projects and works with outside vendors as needed
Consulting & Communications – 15%
Develops support tools and programs both internally and externally for all of Bridgestone Americas
Provides Level I internal support for end users when needed
Strives to maintain 99% up time for end users of Inventor and Vault Pro software
Assists in developing and maintaining a companywide Inventor and Vault Pro training program
Provide training assessment and user capability reporting for management
Travel and present to Bridgestone plant managers the advantages and disadvantages of Inventor and Vault Pro
Visit plants to study processes, consult with personnel and make recommendations
Represents the Company with outside suppliers of equipment, services, or systems
Write reports on project status, including initial project plans and goals, monthly tracking of actual results and completion reports
Serves as consultant to management and plants on technical problems
Interacts with all of Bridgestone Americas and Bridgestone Japan
Furthering Inventor and Vault Pro Education at BSA - 15%
Bridge the BIM to Mechanical design technology with successful business outcomes such as ongoing commissioning processes, OSHA reports, environmental reports, Bridgestone energy performance reports and projections
Travel and present to Bridgestone’s plant managers the advantages and disadvantages of digital technologies such as Digital Prototyping
Evaluate project team development; identify areas requiring further skill development
Inventor / Vault Planning – 10%
Assist with Bridgestone’s efforts to develop a strategic plan for full Inventor and Vault implementation over time
Assist with defining Inventor and Document Management scope, schedule, and budget
Assist in developing project specific implementation direction and guide project teams to ensure Inventor and Vault Pro’s success
Maintenance of Expertise – 5%
Maintain personal library to include reference books, manuals, technical papers and reports
Visit trade shows, technical seminars, and attend selected courses to maintain skills
Associates degree plus five years of relevant experience in CAD management, CAD support, or application engineering fields.
Prior experience with Inventor
Bachelor’s degree inDrafting, Architecture, or Engineering
8+ years of relevant experience
Machine design or Manufacturing design experience
Prior experience with Vault Pro software
