Position Summary:

The Senior Inventory Accountant role is a key member of the shared services accounting group for BATO North America. The role works closely with the logistics and supply chain team in regards to inventories, reserves, and freight and warehousing functions.

Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Ensure financial results are reported timely and accurately

  • Conduct regular balance sheet reconciliations to ensure integrity in financial statements

  • Analyze accounts for reasonableness and proper accounting flows; ensure proper financial controls are in place

  • Prepares journals and schedules for Month, Quarter, and Year end closes

  • Prepare and analyze complex inventory calculations – LIFO, FIFO, E&O, profit in inventory eliminations

  • Partner with business finance teams (ie Logisitics & Supply Chain Finance) on accounting matters

  • Perform ad hoc analysis as requested and communicate results concisely and effectively to senior leaders and executives

  • Support inventory planning for budget cycles (both short term and long term)

  • Continuously improve work procedures and processes, including documentation, process mapping and efficiency improvements

  • Able to articulate accounting concepts effectively to non-accountants

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from accredited university

  • 5+ years of experience in a related field / in a large complex organization

  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications; Advanced Excel skills

  • Knowledge of Accounting Systems and accounting flows

Preferred:

  • Manufacturing or Distribution related background

  • SAP experience

  • LIFO inventory accounting experience

  • Experience with Lean, six sigma, or similar continuous improvement tools

  • Masters degree or CPA/CMA candidate
