Bridgestone’s Product Development Group in Akron, Ohio, is part of Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO), a business unit of Bridgestone Americas, Inc. Position Summary

In Bridgestone’s Advanced Systems Engineering (ASE) Department, we constantly push the tech envelope for FEA, Tire Mechanics, Vehicle Systems, NVH, and and Manufacturing while fostering an environment for innovation & teamwork. We currently have an opening for a Research Engineer within our NVH and Systems Dynamics group.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and validate virtual analysis tools

  • Conduct research and development in tire and automotive systems

  • Conduct advanced virtual design and testing

  • Serve as subject matter expert and mentor junior teammates

  • Create technical documents and presentations

  • Communicate to upper management through presentations and high level reports

  • Develop and execute research project plans to achieve desired milestones and outcomes

  • Work with cross-functional, international, and external teams

Qualifications

  • PhD in system dynamics, vibrations, or acoustics with 5+ years of combined experience in an automotive environment with vehicle dynamics, system modeling and/or automotive system noise and vibration.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated ability in lumped parameter and multi-body dynamic system modeling (e.g. quarter car modeling, and application of simulation packages like ADAMs/SIMPACK etc.) and/or noise and vibration computational methods including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and computational acoustics or coupled structural/acoustic analyses.

  • Demonstrated abilities in numerical/analytical/experimental methods, understanding of material modeling, signal processing, and control theory.

  • Some experience with flexible multibody modeling (automotive corner), nonlinear system modeling and analysis, viz. suspensions (active/passive), brakes and bushings.
