Position Summary

The Regulatory Compliance Manager will be responsible for facilitating the Bridgestone America's quality requirements and ensure compliance regarding global government regulation and tire certifications. The Regulatory Compliance Manager works with Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Legal, Finance, other Bridgestone poles and governmental agencies or their agents. Principle contacts within company and outside the company are with senior and middle management. The location of work includes both manufacturing facilities, as well as Governmental offices. Travel to these locations constitutes 25% of the job.

This role can be located in Nashville, TN or Akron, OH.


TheRegulatory Compliance Manager's core responsibilities include:

  • Achieve Business Readiness to ensure products can be sold as planned

  • Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO) regulatory tire compliance

  • Government and trade associations liaison

  • Interpretations of Regulatory Requirements and Industry Standards

  • Tire Certifications for foreign government agencies

  • TREAD Act early warning reporting

  • Regulatory Compliance assurance, reporting and process improvements

  • Manage professional teammates to achieve the above

Business Readiness

  • Manage projects to ensure compliance across the company's various processes and systems to mitigate compliance risk. This includes attaining deadlines for regulatory compliance effective dates (OTOS).

  • Develop policies as required to drive Business Readiness.

Compliance Systems Development

  • Manage system processes to ensure TREAD Act compliance is effective.

  • Manage system processes to ensure foreign countries' regulatory agencies' requirements for tire certifications are effective.

Government and Legal Relations

  • Represent and formulate by consensus the company's position regarding all National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) inquiries, rule making, or product investigations.

  • Preparation of information to NHTSA concerning reported non-compliance of company products, and other reporting as required.

  • Continuous improvement of relationship building with NHTSA - key liaison with NHTSA regarding company issues.

  • Be available to members of Management, and staff for consultation, interpretation, and explanation of NHTSA, Transport Canada, ECE, NOM, SASO, INMETRO, etc. regulations.

  • Communicate with foreign government agencies as required regarding regulatory compliance, tire certifications, etc.

Manage Tire Recall and Customer Satisfaction Campaigns

  • Lead Cross Functional Team from various business areas to effectively conduct recalls and campaigns.

  • Maintain and update Field Action Playbook

  • B.S. Degree – Business, Math, Engineering or Science and at least 10 years of progressive responsibilities.


  • Masters Degree - Business, Math, Engineering or Science with 8 years of progressive responsibilities as related above.​
