This position will be responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day administration and operation of the Bridgestone Health & Welfare related plans with a specific focus on benefits compliance in regards to ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, Cafeteria Plans, COBRA, etc. The Senior Health & Welfare Benefits Specialist will work closely with the Manager, Health & Welfare Benefits, in assessing Bridgestone’s needs regarding benefits compliance and developing necessary plans to implement solutions to remain compliant.
-Oversee and administer the daily functions and processes of the health and welfare benefit plans.
Manage regular data file transfer process from the HRIS system to third party administrators and resolve resulting errors/discrepancies from data loads.
Keeps abreast of changes in laws, industry trends, regulations, best practices, and makes recommendations as needed in order to maintain compliance. Ensure Bridgestone compliance of all benefit plans including all areas of ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, etc.
Ensures benefit administration processes and documentation are meeting all legislative and internal business requirements: recommends, develops, implements and revises benefits administration processes as necessary.
Work with other HR members to disseminate information to management and/or employees and to facilitate appropriate awareness and training around benefits and benefits compliance.
Be the first point of contact for all inquiries related to benefit compliance requirements, audits, reporting, or issues. Act as a liaison with other departments to direct benefit compliance issues for investigation and resolution.
Work with internal and external business partners to collect, develop, and review Summary Plan Descriptions, Plan Documents, etc. to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Conduct reviews, as needed, of Bridgestone benefit administration processes to ensure compliance.
Develop effective communications and ongoing education to improve Bridgestone’s understanding on compliance.
Responsible for handling benefit inquiries where benefit administration precedence is not clear.
Work with internal and external business partners to facilitate the completion of regulatory required filings such a non-discrimination testing, Form 5500’s, etc.
Interfaces directly with insurance carriers to research and resolve benefit eligibility and enrollment issues. Resolves complex individual employee benefit issues, acting as the liaison between insurance providers and employees as a part of the benefits issues escalation process.
Manage ad-hoc projects as needed to support benefits administration and benefits compliance
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in health & welfare benefits administration
In-depth knowledge of health & welfare benefits administration, and the legal and regulatory environment.
Experience with using and administering HRIS
Proven customer satisfaction with the ability to influence, drive change, and deliver results.
Able to work independently in a dynamic environment of change, challenge, and deadlines.
Able to manage multiple competing priorities and projects.
Able to handle confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner.
Strong demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
Competent in Microsoft Office products
- Industry based certification/continuing education (CEBS, GBA, PHR, etc.)
- Preferred experience working in a bargaining and non-bargaining enviro
